MEXICO QUAIL HUNTING | ||
|
YOU WON'T HAVE TO GET UP BEFORE DAWN IF YOU DECIDE TO HUNT THEM ALL DAY!
You just can't imagine the number of birds found in the Valley's vast grain fields – primarily grain sorghum. Flushing 20 or more coveys in a single afternoon is common, and you won't have to get up before dawn if you decide to hunt them all day. The vast majority of the birds are the ‘gentlemanly’ Bobwhite, but there are a few coveys of Blue or Scaled Quail to be found. The population is so incredibly high because pairs have 3 and sometimes 4 hatches per year and there are very few predators in the area and an incredible amount of food. Often times it’s more like Quail ‘shooting’ than Quail hunting in the hedgerows along the grain fields. They’re ALL WILD BIRDS and plenty of them – so don’t be too ‘slow on the draw’.
