A variety of Doves are available for hunting
in Argentina, but most plentiful is the Torcaza
or "Eared Dove" - very similar to our American Mourning Dove. Their
numbers reach into the tens of millions and they destroy up to 40% of
corn, wheat, and sunflower crops annually. Shooting for this "pest"
is year round and there is absolutely no season or limits! The heaviest
shooting is from September through March (Argentine summertime).Because the doves fly constantly from sun-up to sun-down, firing 1000-2500+ rounds a day is normal. The majority of our Argentina Dove hunting is done in World Famous Cordoba Province, in the north central part of the country. The shooting areas in the Province are primarily crop lands of wheat, corn, soybeans, and sunflowers; interspersed with brushy nesting habitat for the birds. It's a Dove Factory! The birds often destroy many of the crops, so shooters are welcomed. Typically we recommend three days of Dove hunting because of the incredible volume, but we can customize your trip any way you'd like. THE 'Typical' TRIP, or DESIGN YOUR OWN
Your adventure starts with an evening flight
from Miami (or LAX for west coast clients). Departures are daily. You
pick your dates and set your schedule. You fly non-stop to Buenos Aires
or Santiago, Chile; where you change planes for the one hour flight
to Cordoba, Argentina where you'll meet your Host, clear customs, have
your first great lunch in Argentina and start shooting that afternoon.
You'll shoot 'til you decide to quit for the day and head for the lodge
to enjoy drinks, appetizers & a great dinner accompanied by tall tales
of the days events. You'll start the next morning with a breakfast of your choice and drive to the Dove fields or flyways, depending on the time of year. Most fields are within 30 minutes of the estancia, and often you can shoot right outside the door! The shooting is fast and furious, punctuated by a gourmet lunch and perhaps a siesta. Then it's back to the fields for some more shooting until you decide to head back for dinner & drinks. The next day you'll do it all over again. Your 4th day in Argentina reducing the Dove population and enjoying the great food & hospitality is unfortunately your departure day. You'll shoot in the morning, have one last great lunch and head for the airport and your flight back home. You'll fly from Cordoba to Santiago or Buenos Aries, change planes and be back in Miami the following morning. Likely, you're already planning your next Argentina Dove hunting trip where you can once again enjoy the warm hospitality, great food & fantastic shooting. Many hunters make it an annual trip. |
